Our Story

Otto's Corner Store began with a simple idea: that everyday life is made richer by beautiful, considered things. Nestled at 25 Esk Street in the heart of Invercargill, we're a design-led retail store and espresso bar with a focus on curated products, great coffee, and a warm community atmosphere.

Many of the products you’ll find at Otto’s aren’t just things we sell; they’re things I use in my own home. From the coffee gear I reach for each morning to the stationery on my desk and pieces that have earned a permanent place on our shelves, these are products that have proven their value through daily use.

Much of the inspiration for Otto’s comes from my travels overseas. Whenever I visit a new city, you’ll usually find me exploring neighbourhood stores, design shops, bookstores, museums and cafés, looking for products and ideas that feel thoughtful, useful and a little bit special.

The goal has never been to stock everything. Instead, it’s about finding pieces that are well made, beautifully designed and genuinely enjoyable to live with.

Every product on our shelves has been hand-sourced with intention. From ceramics and home decor to stationery, bags, and candles, we seek out makers and designers from New Zealand, Australia, and around the world whose work reflects quality, craft, and a genuine point of view. We believe the things you surround yourself with should tell a story — and we take pride in finding those stories for you.
