Otto's Corner Store

Otto's is a corner store with a difference. We curate coffee, design objects, and unique products for people who love things made with care. We're looking for someone energetic and genuine to join us — someone who brings warmth to every interaction, takes real pride in the details, and loves independent brands and great design as much as we do.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the store. You'll be pulling shots, helping customers find something they love, keeping the shop looking its best, and occasionally sharing what we're up to on social media. If you're a people person who gets excited about good products and a strong cup of coffee, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Coffee & Cafe

• Preparing and serving espresso-based drinks to a consistent, high standard.
• Keeping the coffee bar clean, stocked, and running smoothly during service.
• Engaging warmly with our regulars and newcomers alike.

Retail

• Serving customers on the shop floor and at the counter.
• Processing sales accurately through our POS system.
• Restocking shelves, rotating products and maintaining a tidy, well-presented store.
• Receiving deliveries and assisting with stock management.

Social Media

• Capturing content in store (new products, specials, behind-the-scenes moments).
• Posting to Instagram and Facebook regularly.
• Responding to customer enquiries via email, in a friendly, on-brand way.
• Occasionally being featured in content yourself (no pressure, but always a bonus).

What You'll Bring

• A genuine passion for design, independent brands and unique products.
• Previous cafe/retail experience (Barista trained preferred but not essential — we're happy to train the right person).
• A people-first attitude and the ability to make every customer feel welcome.
• Loads of initiative and the ability to keep things running without being asked.
• Reliability. We're a small team and count on each other.
• An eye for a good photo; be comfortable behind the camera.

The Details

Location: 25 Esk Street, Invercargill

Hours: Weekdays 9.00 am – 5.00 pm (Occasional weekend work to cover staff absences)

Wage: Negotiable based on experience and culture fit

Start Date: Mid-July
